May 15, 1919 to Jun 25, 1919 - The Winnipeg General Strike began when the Winnipeg Trades and Labor Council called a general strike in sympathy with the strikers of May 1. The strike exposed the bitter class divisions in Canadian society and lasted 7 weeks.
