Slocum Completes Around the World Solo Voyage

June 27, 1898 - Three years after, starting his solo, around the world voyage, in his 11.2m (36'9") boat the Spray. Joshua Slocum returned to Newport, Rhode Island. Having circumnavigated the world, a distance of more than 46,000 miles (74,000 km).
"Was the crew well? Was I not? I had profited in many ways by the voyage. I had even gained flesh, and actually weighed a pound more than when I sailed from Boston."
